Mount Athos is the third "leg" and peninsula of Halkidiki. “The Holy Mountain" is home to over 2,000 monks and monesteries and dates back to the Byzantine era. Women are forbidden from stepping foot on the island, but there are cruises that sail around the beautiful peninsula. A great day trip for those staying in Halkidiki.
