Buttermilk Bakery
A great place to grab delicious pastries for breakfast. We like to stop here and then walk to the Foxtail Coffee down the street for drinks!
East End Market
A small food hall and market with local vendors! This is a great place to grab lunch or an afternoon snack.
SoDough Square
A Detroit style pizzeria near our venue! It’s no Chicago deep dish, but still really tasty.
Mamak Asian Street Food
A delicious Asian street food stop in the Mills 50 area! We love to go family style and order a bunch of small plates and share.
Sampaguita Ice Cream
Our favorite Filipino ice cream place right next to Mamak! They have lots of Filipino inspired ice cream flavors, including sampaguita (Rianne’s favorite) and ube soft serve (Ryan’s favorite).
Hungry Crab Juicy Seafood
If you’re looking for the Florida seafood boil experience, this one is our favorite!
Nipa Hut Restaurant
Our favorite Filipino restaurant! It’s a bit of a drive, but totally worth it.
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
Space! Rockets! Awesomeness! This is the visitor center by the Kennedy Space Center where Rianne works. They have great exhibits and a bus tour where you'll get to see some of NASA's buildings and launch pads. This visitor center is great for all ages, and you could easily spend a full day here if you want to hit all the exhibits. Of all the Things To Do listed on this page, this is our highest recommendation!
Orlando Science Center
Orlando's science museum! It is super kid friendly, and they have some new exhibits since the last time we visited. Tickets are a little cheaper if you buy them online instead of in person.
Orlando Museum of Art
Orlando's art museum! It is a smaller museum, but they always have awesome exhibitions. We also love the Mennello Museum of American Art that's across the street and the nearby sculpture garden.
Canaveral National Seashore
Our favorite nearby beach! If you search "Playalinda Beach, Brevard County” in most mapping apps it will route you to the south entrance (there is no physical address). From Parking Lot #1 you can see Launch Pad 39-A! The area around the beach entrance is not very developed, so bring any drinks and snacks with you. This seashore is part of the National Park Service so there is an entry fee per vehicle, but it's worth it in our opinion!
Cocoa Beach
If you're looking for beaches in a developed area, there's some public parking pullouts along Cocoa Beach in between the hotels and apartments. The parking lot address listed here is fairly easy to get to and has a boardwalk out to the beach!
Wekiwa Springs State Park
One of our beautiful Florida state parks! You can swim in the natural springs or go for a (flat) hike and enjoy Florida’s green beauty year round.
King's Landing
A gorgeous way to paddle along one of the tributaries from Wekiva Springs. They have kayak, paddle board, and canoe rentals, we like the self guided day paddle option! Book ahead of time before you go, and it’s best to go earlier in the morning for a closer parking spot.
Disney World Parks & Resorts
In addition to the four main theme parks, we like Disney Springs; an outdoor shopping area with good food, live music, an awesome Cirque du Soleil show, and free parking! We also enjoy going out for dinner at the resorts, just make a reservation online or on Disney’s app. Our favorite so far is Sebastian's Bistro at the Caribbean Resort.
Universal Orlando Resort
Universal's parks have many thrilling rides and immersive themed areas centered around some beloved IPs--Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon, and Nintendo World (to name a few!). Most recently we visited their newest park, Epic Universe, which truly lived up to its name!
