How We Met

03.03.15

It was our Sophomore and Junior year of college at Marquette University when I was sitting in class minding my own business when Rhiley walked in. They say love at first sight doesn't exist, but from the moment I saw her, I knew she was special. Naturally introverted, I was nervous and every time I tried to start a conversation, I backed down. Luck was on my side when Rhiley sat in front of me at work, where I overheard her mentioning that she was going to spend the summer in La Jolla with her Grandma. This was my moment. The conversation only lasted two minutes and I was disappointed until later that night when I saw Rhiley had liked a comment dating back two years. What I know now that I didn't then was that it was her friend Gabby (Shoutout to Gabby - Thank you!). That gave me an excuse to message her and the rest was history . . .

The Proposal

04.21.18

Tyler had the perfect proposal planned, a dream really. It was going to be on a smooth beach in front of the Split Rock Lighthouse right as the sun set with bright colors. Spring meant it was going to be warm and they could celebrate with cold champagne. He had seen so many pictures online of just this and was beyond excited. The evening started off as we ran into an ex-boyfriend of mine at dinner in a town of under 3,500 people. Excitement turned to anxiety as they arrived to Split Rock Lighthouse a few minutes late and Tyler realized the entire park was closed. Not only were they late, but it was cold, there was a lot of ice and snow, and there was no sun shining. He had to somehow convince me to walk down this icy beaten path with our two month old daughter in hand. I am a guesser and I knew in that moment that he was either going to kill me (slightly joking) or propose to me. Just wait...it gets better and I promise you it is worth the read. We finally get down to the "beach" where Tyler was told to stand by a pile of rocks by a photographer he had hired to hide and take secret photos. The issue was that the whole beach was covered in rocks. The sun was going down, but there was no sun set. Tyler finally got down on one knee after slyly trying to convince me to look at the lighthouse and although Tyler was anxious, I was over the moon. I didn't notice any of the things he was concerned about. None of that mattered, I get to spend my forever with the love of my life. .... oh and by the way, he forgot to ice the champagne, it was warm. ;)
