Despite being city-dwellers in our day-to-day-lives, we really hoped to celebrate our wedding somewhere close to nature. The first time we visited Bozeman together had been on a road trip through the Northwest, and on that trip we had our first real conversation about turning our relationship into a forever thing. Ever since, Montana has held a special place in our hearts.
Whenever is most convenient for your flights and schedule! For those that are in town by Friday evening, we will have a welcome dinner and drinks that all are encouraged to attend. However, if you have a few extra days, we strongly recommend taking some time to explore the area...
Absolutely! Yellowstone National Park can be done as a day trip (it's 90 minutes from Bozeman) and is absolutely spectacular, or you can do an overnight in the area to see even more of the sights. There's also tons to do right in Bozeman, and for outdoor enthusiasts, there is rafting, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and tons of other activities right in the area - see the "Things to do" tab for some recommendations.
Tons! In addition to Yellowstone and the Bozeman area, in a week you could explore Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole in Wyoming (~4 hour drive), the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho (~6 hour drive), or Glacier National Park in northern Montana (~4.5 hour drive). While they're a bit of a trek, they're spectacular drives that we promise you won't regret. Glacier and Jackson also have local airports if you'd prefer to fly in or out.
Unfortunately not - unless anyone is planning to road trip from the NYC area and wants some mostly well-behaved canine buddies, in which case, let us know :)
Sage Lodge is approximately 45 minutes away from Bozeman by car. Transportation will be provided on Saturday to/from the ceremony and the reception.
Nope! There will be shuttles to/from the venue on Saturday. Getting from the airport to town and to Friday’s dinner are both short (10-15 minute) journeys that should be feasible via Uber. However, there are occasional Uber shortages (a new development in Bozeman). If that occurs, there are traditional cab services, and we are working on a few other backup solutions (we will update this space once we have more details). Finally, if you do want to explore the area or visit Yellowstone before or after the wedding weekend, a car will be useful.
July weather in Bozeman is generally great, with daytime highs in the 80s and overnight lows in the 50s. That said, it is the mountains so weather can be unpredictable, and afternoon hail storms are not unheard of. All of the events will move indoors if the weather turns, but we would recommend packing some layers and an umbrella just in case.
That's great! You can find reasonably priced Indian clothing at indianweddingsaree.com, Riya Collective, Utsav, Etsy, and even Amazon (is there anything they don't sell?), among others. For newbies, we'd recommend a lehenga, salwar, or anarkali for women - even Rhea can't tie a saree - and a kurta for men.
