Florence Airport (FLR): Florence the largest airport near our venue, and flights here often connect through major European hubs. We are arranging shuttles for guests to and from Florence. Booking a multi-stop trip to Florence is the quickest way to get there, but we recommend enjoying your time and breaking up the travel by going to a major travel hub in Europe for a night and going to Florence the next day. Pisa Airport (PSA): 35 minutes by car away from the venue, Pisa is a good choice if you’re planning to explore the coast or northern Tuscany before the wedding. Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO): A larger international airport about 2.5-3 hours away by car or train. Flights to Rome are often more affordable given that it is more of a "hub." Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP): Milan is a good choice because it is centrally located and relatively close to Florence. There's also some great shopping there! High-speed trains from Milan to Florence run frequently and are easy to navigate. Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE): If you plan to explore northern Italy or Venice before heading to Tuscany, Venice is an option. It’s farther away (about 3.5 to 4 hours by train or car), but could be part of a longer Italian adventure. Venice is great day trip, so it could make sense if you are taking advantage of Labor Day Weekend travel before the wedding. Feel free to choose the airport that best fits your itinerary. We recommend booking early and checking connections to make your journey as smooth as possible! If you plan to explore Europe prior to our wedding, we also recommend the below destinations as European city "hubs" that are often more affordable and offer more frequent flight options: -Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) -Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) -London Heathrow (LHR) When we studied abroad together, we usually planned trips using https://www.rome2rio.com/. We stll use it today :)
Our venue's closest major town is Pontedera. You may choose to take a taxi from Florence to the venue, I would expect it to cost 150-200 euros. I recommend booking a taxi service online, and bringing a receipt with you to show to the taxi driver when it comes time to pay. If you want to get there by rail, you can take the trenitalia train from Florence Santa Maria Novella station to the Pontedera-Casciana Terme station. From there you may call or arrange a taxi to the venue. https://www.rome2rio.com/ Is a website we used all the time when we planned trips during our semester abroad. We still use it today!
Yes! All accommodations will be on-property at Il Castello di San Ruffino. The welcome party, wedding & pool party will also all be held here.
Each event has its own feel, and we’d love for your outfits to match the mood. Here’s what to pack: Welcome Dinner – September 9th: White attire requested. To set the tone for the weekend, we’re asking everyone to wear white. It’ll make for a beautiful, cohesive evening and some great photos. Wedding Day – September 10th: Formal attire. The ceremony and reception are formal, but we invite you to have a little fun with it. Feel free to bring in colors, textures, and styles that complement the Tuscan scenery. (Just no white, please!) Pool Party BBQ – September 11th: Casual and poolside-ready. Swimwear, cover-ups, and easy summer pieces are perfect for a relaxed afternoon by the pool. Think Italian summer!
Because of limited venue space, we unfortunately can't accommodate plus-ones beyond those named on the wedding invitation. Thank your for understanding!
We completely understand that travel and schedules can be tricky! While we’d love to have everyone join us for all the celebrations, your presence at the wedding day itself means the world to us. Please don’t worry if you can’t make the welcome dinner or pool party. We just kindly ask that you note this during the RSVP process so we can account for the number of rooms needed for each night at the castle as well as for meals.
While we get ready with our bridal party, we invite you to enjoy the day any way you'd like! We welcome you to stay on property and utilize the pool, venture to a nearby winery, or even take a small day trip to explore Italy (Pisa, for example). During the RSVP process, we will ask you to confirm if you'd like to participate in any group activities this day, like a tasting. Cost of these events may vary depending on what is selected.
