Hotel
This hotel is literally across the street from the chateau where Samir & I will be staying with our family and where the ceremony & cocktail hour is. It is hands down the most convenient location. A simple, yet charming hotel, the Best Westerns in Europe are a different ball game than they are in the U.S. This hotel recommends securing a room by Feb 15, as they begin booking up in March during busy Spring/Summer travel. Flight
We recommend you fly into Paris, Charles de Gaulle airport and then head over to Gare de Lyon and take a speed train to Avignon (Approx 2.5-3 hrs). Another option for flights is to fly into Marseilles, then rent a car and drive an hour to Fontvieille.
Train
There are several websites where you can book your train tickets but we recommend trainline.com. Their interface is easiest to use and syncs up with all the train options throughout France. A few important things to remember when booking: - Be sure to check that you are selecting a highspeed train with no stops or changes. Travel time can range from 2h40 mins to 8h30 mins! - Trains work similar to budget flights. You tend to get better deals if you book early. There is also different pricing based on seat selection and bags. If you are not able to fit your bag under your seat, they ask that you pay a bag charge to store it in the vestibule next to the train exits. - Give yourself at least 45 mins at La Gare de Lyon to get yourself oriented. It's a HUGE place and everything is in French so it'll take some time to make sure you know where you're going.
Rental Car
If you are arriving to Avignon by train, you'll find a plethora of car rental places in walking distance. The webiste will allow you to peruse your options. Keep in mind that in Europe, many cars are stick and electric!
