Keith and Renee met at work. Keith worked in IT, and Renee worked in the Marketing department. Their paths rarely crossed except for the occasional “user error” issues that caused Renee to reach out to Keith. Every year their company held an annual meeting in different cities. Keith and Renee both shared an affinity for exploring new places and living as the locals do. Together, they coordinated bar crawls and city tours for their coworkers. Little did they know their teamwork coordinating fun adventures was a foreshadow of what was to come. One year, Renee could not attend the annual meeting because of her MBA program. She continued to reach out to Keith, vicariously living through his fun adventures in yet another new city. Renee’s FOMO (fear of missing out) was so strong that she suggested the group of coworkers attend DC’s Fall Beerfest when everyone returned from the annual meeting. Everyone was onboard until, of course, the day of (typical DC flake out). The only person who still wanted to go was Keith. November 5, 2016, Renee and Keith had a blast tasting local beers, swapping funny stories, and hanging out with Renee’s friends. Their chemistry was so strong that Renee’s friends thought the two were dating. But when asked the question, “how long have you two been together?” both Renee and Keith, simultaneously, would say, “we’re just friends.” As the day progressed, the thought of being more than friends crept into both their minds and they realized they had stronger feelings for each other. From that day forward, they began spending more time together, texting and calling daily, and introducing each other to their friends and family. Before they knew it, one month of dating turned into a four-year whirlwind romance. On January 25, 2020, Keith proposed to Renee on her 30th birthday trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Even though COVID-19 placed a temporary hold on Renee and Keith’s travel plans, their lifelong journey is well underway!
