Travel Note
Thailand is mainly a cash economy, with some hotels and sit-down restaurants accepting card. When first arriving in Bangkok, there are several money exchange booths in the airport if you bring USD to exchange. Otherwise, ATMs are widely available throughout the country, making it easy to withdraw Thai Baht as needed.
Travel Note
In Thailand, the most widely used ride-hailing apps are Grab and Bolt. While traditional taxis are also readily available, Grab and Bolt offer the convenience of inputting your pick-up and drop-off locations directly through the app, along with an upfront fare estimate. This can be especially helpful for travelers who don't speak Thai, making it one of the easiest ways to get around. These apps are free to download on your mobile device. If you choose to take a regular taxi, be sure to ask the driver to use the meter, as this is usually more cost-effective than accepting a flat-rate fare.
