Sukhothai Historical Park
About an hour and 15 minutes from Phitsanulok, Sukhothai Historical Park features centuries-old temple ruins. Sukhothai was an important cultural and political center during the 13th and 14th centuries.
Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park
This 119 square-mile national park is an hour and a half away from Phitsanulok and features hiking trails that lead to waterfalls, unique rock formations, and gorgeous views.
Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew
Located about an hour away from Phitsanulok, this "temple on a glass cliff" is a stunning architectural feat. The temple features panoramic views of the Khao Kho mountain range, as well as buildings with beautiful mosaic designs.
Chiang Mai
One of our favorite places in Thailand, Chiang Mai is a beautiful city in the north of the country. You can travel from Phitsanulok to Chiang Mai via train or bus. Ko Tao
If you’ll be traveling in the South, try to fit Ko Tao into your itinerary. While a bit difficult to get to, this island has amazing snorkeling/ scuba diving, hiking, and restaurants, and just a generally hip yet laid-back vibe.
Bangkok
You either love it or you hate it! Bangkok is Thailand capital city and it’s a WILD place. Everything is at your fingertips in this city (that is, if you’re not stuck in traffic for several hours).
