Renee was ready for a fun night with her girlfriends when Derek and a friend crashed the party. The night started with drinking games and small chit chat. But before long Derek wooed Renee with his beer pong prowess (she actually kicked his butt) and she hooked his interest with her contagious laugh and adorable smile. Tapping into his chivalrous spirit, Derek walked her home that evening for a goodnight kiss before running off in fear when her father opened the front door. Soon after, Derek convinced Renee for a night of glow-in-the-dark miniature golf and corny jokes. The rest is history...

While in Thailand, Renee and Derek explored bat caves, swam in hot springs and climbed an eroded red sandstone canyon. At the summit of the canyon, once Derek and Renee found the perfect spot to watch the tired sun seek respite behind the mountains, they sat. And waited. Renee, sitting innocently near the edge of the canyon, observed the natural landscapes and surveyed for wildlife. Derek, with nervous sweat dripping down his spine, his forehead, into his eyes, and pretty much everywhere else inconvenient, managed to muster up awkward conversation in an attempt to speed up time for the big moment. Well it came and it didn't disappoint. Derek handed off Renee's phone to a stranger they be-friended that day (her phone always takes better pictures-because his phone belongs in the stone age) and asked him to take a picture to cap off their great day. With Derek's spy-like skills he actually turned the video camera on and Joe captured the perfect video of Derek (nailing a reverse-lunge) asking for Renee's hand in marriage. The crowd went wild and the foreign-commentary in the background was priceless. They kissed and rejoiced with the blessing of the Thai sunset.
