Dog of Honor
In December 2017, Rekha took a trip to Kauai with Tania (see officiant). This trip was magical in many ways, one of which was that Tania convinced Rekha that now would be a good time to get a dog. Rekha landed back in Colorado December 28th, after a red-eye flight from Hawaii, took a nap, and went straight to Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden. There she met a 50lb pitbull mix, decided they would give each other a shot, and the rest is history. When Mike met Gatsby, in February 2018, it was instant friendship that has now become a beautiful father-son relationship.

Tania and Rekha met freshman year of high school, but their relationship really solidified during Dr. Jones's chemistry class sophomore year. There were many phone calls after track practice to discuss covalent bonding and titration. Tania now lives in Brooklyn and can be found doing improv, traveling around the world, and making time for her friends.

Sarah and Rekha met at Shakespeare camp before freshman year of high school, where they discovered they would be starting at the same school and would both be running cross country! At the first cross country practice they met other bff Emily who they also instantly hit it off with. Sarah now lives in San Franciso where she can be found parenting two of the cutest cats, enjoying live music, and engaging in her community.

Emily and Rekha (and Sarah) met at the first cross country practice freshman year of high school where they bonded over being freshmen on the same team, concerns of starting high school, and just generally existing in the world at that age. Emily now lives in Berkeley where she can be found cuddling her pitbull-mix Riley, watching women's sports, and spending time in nature with people she loves.

Shreya and Rekha met sophomore year of college in their first set of Material Science core classes. They bonded over hours of mat sci lectures and completing problem sets, going to see movies in Squirrel Hill, and enjoying college life in Pittsburgh. Shreya now lives in San Francisco where she can be found reading a good book, enjoying the arts and culture that SF has to offer, and appreciating a high quality cocktail and meal with friends.

Valerie and Rekha met during the Colorado School of Mines visit weekend before graduate school. Little did they know that the acquaintance they made over that weekend would become a grad school bestie. Valerie and Rekha navigated the many ups and downs of graduate school together, a highlight being getting two of the most perfect dogs within a few months of each other! Valerie now lives outside of Boulder and like a true Coloradan her perfect weekend is spent outside in the mountains with her dogs.

Mike and Celly met freshman year standing in line at Cedar Village (Michigan State University) waiting to sign up for apartments the next year. Their friendship developed while living together sophomore year, playing Mario Kart, going to football games, and being on the front page of the state news during Cedar Fest. Celly now lives in South Lyon, MI where he enjoys spending time with family, watching sports, and breaking ankles on the YMCA court.

Mike and Koester met in middle school as young bucks on the lightweight football team. They became great friends in high school and that friendship continued into college. With both of them living in Colorado, they go to shows, and dabble in an occasional hike. Koester now lives in Denver, CO and enjoys hiking, sports, shows at red rocks, and playing with his dog, Pepper.

Mike and Matt met freshman year of college (Michigan State University) in the dorms and became great friends while they both navigated the demands of engineering school and college life. Mike and Matt traveled abroad in Sweden, and then lived together after college in Royal Oak, MI. Matt now lives in Berkley, MI where he enjoys playing with his wiener dog, Stanley, watching sports, and working on house projects such as building big ol’ decks.

Mike and Will met during the interview process at Ford, where they were battling it out in a group style interview. Little did they know, they would both get the job and meet again a year or so later. Mike and Will became close friends when they both moved to Kansas City as an extended work trip for Ford. From music festivals to snowboarding trips, these two have had some great adventures. Will now lives in Austin, TX where he enjoys concerts, gaming, and traveling.
