Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions page! We know that planning for a destination wedding can raise a lot of questions, and we’re here to help make your experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Below, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about travel, accommodations, the wedding day, and more. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help!
Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

The venue has a limited capacity, so we kindly ask that you refer to your wedding invitation for details about your guest count. If you would like to bring a plus one, please let us know as soon as possible so we can confirm availability and finalize our guest list. We want to ensure everyone has a comfortable and enjoyable experience!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Iceland weather can be unpredictable, so we suggest dressing in layers. For the wedding itself, formal or semi-formal attire is appropriate. If you plan to explore the outdoors before or after, be sure to bring comfortable shoes and a warm jacket!

Question

What time should I get there?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 11AM. Please arrive 30-45 minutes early to ensure you have time to settle in, find parking, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before the ceremony begins. We want everyone to be relaxed and ready for the celebration!

Question

What happens if there is bad weather?

Answer

Icelandic weather can be unpredictable, but we’re prepared for any conditions! The wedding will proceed as planned, rain or shine, so we recommend dressing in layers and bringing an umbrella just in case.

Question

Are children invited to the wedding?

Answer

We love kids, but the wedding will be an adult-only event. We hope this allows all guests to fully relax and enjoy the celebration.

Question

Is there a dress code for the wedding?

Answer

We encourage formal or semi-formal attire for the ceremony and reception. Keep in mind that Iceland’s weather can be cool, so be sure to bring layers and a warm jacket, especially if you plan to take outdoor photos or stroll around the venue.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

While Iceland does have some public transportation options, renting a car is highly recommended for exploring Skagafjörður and the surrounding area. Public transit in Iceland is limited, especially outside major cities, and there are few bus routes that connect smaller towns like those in Skagafjörður.

Question

Where should I fly into?

Answer

The easiest way to reach Skagafjörður is by flying into Keflavik International Airport (KEF), located near Reykjavik, and then driving up to Skagafjörður. The drive takes about 5-6 hours, offering spectacular views of Iceland's diverse landscapes along the way. Alternatively, you can take a domestic flight from Reykjavik to Akureyri (AEY), the nearest major airport to Skagafjörður. From there, it's just a short 1.5-hour drive to the wedding venue.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

There are several great accommodation options in Skagafjörður and surrounding areas, including Hotel Tindastóll and several charming guesthouses. We also recommend checking out Airbnb for more options. Be sure to book early as accommodations fill up quickly!
