We're Getting Married!

Even though we didn't know each other until junior year of high school, I can barely remember not being in each others lives. We were both more on the shy side in high school - I had my close group of friends and he was known as a super smart, sweet guy on the soccer team. He sat behind me in history class junior year, and I didn't really know him, so it came as an absolute surprise to me when one day out of the blue, he asked me out to a soccer team date night in the fall of 2011. I ended up saying yes, and we barely said much to each other all night since we were both so nervous! The first half of the school year ended not long after that, and believe it or not, we actually ended up on somewhat of a hiatus for a few months. I remember the day when he reached out to me again in the following Spring and we eventually went on our "first date" together in May of 2012. Now we are almost 8 years in, and can't even believe there was ever a day we were too nervous to talk to each other!

We had been living long distance for 1.5 years at the time, and wanted to plan a nice trip away together. We planned to go to Asheville right after Christmas, and David decided he wanted to take over planning everything so that it would be a fun surprise for me on what we would do and where we would stay. On the way, we made an unexpected stop at Chimney Rock to go hiking. At one of the overlooks, we were just enjoying the view when he paused, got down on one knee and proposed! I was so surprised and had absolutely no idea he had been planning it for several months. After saying yes, and finishing the day at Chimney Rock, we continued on to the Omni Grove Park Inn (a place we had always wanted to stay) and over the next few days we celebrated with a Christmas at the Biltmore tour, dinner on the grounds, and a surprise visit from my family!
