In the summer of 2012, Billy saw Regina at a party in Boulder. She was stuck in summer school and Billy was just a Boulder townie crashing Buffs house parties. It was his margarita recipe and her perfect camping stove bacon, their backyard ballroom dancing to Levels by Avicii, and that one time Regina pretended to be a flight attendant directing a lost group of partygoers on a journey across the Hill. It was love. Their magnetic love was no match for their insatiable ambitions, and they found themselves on opposite coasts. He was in North Carolina at Doctor School, and she was in San Francisco working at The Internet. They looked at each other's social media and exchanged meaningful glances at weddings and New Years parties. Each night in the moonlight they stared wistfully at their respective oceans, wondering if the “one that got away” was on the other side. They’re not good at geography. Nine years later, fate brought them back together. Regina had recently moved back to Denver and Billy was in his residency in California. They were both going to be on the same Mexico trip and in preparation, Billy asked Regina out on a FaceTime date. Regina waited exactly one hour to text back (she's very busy) and Billy’s friend Sam Jolly came up with a theme -“ wine moms.” Billy sent her wine and a cheugy CVS sign that said "home is where the wine is". A few FaceTime dates and Snoop Dogg cabernets later, he asked her to be his girlfriend (sight unseen). She was delighted. She eventually moved back to California and they got a puppy together named Corleone (don't worry, he's coming to the wedding). They traveled together – Billy had a pediatric hand apprenticeship in Madrid, Regina ate jamón in the park. Billy paddled their two seater kayak in the Mediterranean, and they explored the nooks and crannies of California coast including a whimsical Brie farm, a hot tub in a giraffe sanctuary, and the coolest Taco Bell on earth. In their favorite nook, Bolinas Beach, Billy proposed. Corleone helped. Currently residing in NYC as Billy completes his hand surgery fellowship, they eagerly anticipate their October wedding!
