Parking at the lodge is annoying. Take the Trans Canada Highway heading west towards Field and Golden, BC. The turnoff to Emerald Lake Lodge is located 1km west of Field, BC. Follow the road for 8 km until you see a sign that says ‘Overnight Guest Parking.’ Turn left into the parking lot. In the parking lot is a cabin. Use the telephone in the cabin to call our front desk. A shuttle will be sent to pick you up and bring you to the main lodge.
No, Uber and Lyft are not available in Banff. We recommend that the party you are traveling with rents a car.
Short answer - no. Wifi is not available in rooms. Wifi is available in the main lodge and there is plenty of cozy seating for you to settle in to if you need some time online. Emerald Lake Lodge is truly a "lodge". There are no TVs, no cell service, no wifi in rooms, and the rooms include a wood-burning fireplace that you can light with a match. We hope you'll be excited about the opportunity to unplug for a night.
We love your children very much but we would really like to have an adults-only ceremony and reception. However, we will be providing childcare at the lodge from check-in at 4pm until the end of the reception. The childcare room will be on the second floor above the reception space, so you will be able to easily check on your children if you like. We hope that this will free you from parental duties and allow you to enjoy our wedding with us. If you have any questions, please let us know.
We suggest cocktail attire but please wear whatever makes you comfortable! Temperatures will range from 65 degrees in the daytime to 45 degrees at night, so bring an extra layer. The walkways at Emerald Lake Lodge are paved with stone, so you can wear heels but watch your step.
In June, averages in Banff suggest a high of 65 degrees and a low of 45 degrees, occasional rain, and strong sun!
The elevation in Banff is around 4,500 feet. The elevation in Lake Louise is around 5,200 feet. Stay hydrated, pace yourself when drinking alcohol, wear sunscreen and you'll be just fine!
The sun will rise at roughly 5:30 AM and set at roughly 10:00 PM during the wedding weekend.
You need a valid passport to enter Canada. Please make sure you have renewed or acquired a passport before making travel arrangements. Canadian currency is CAD and the exchange rate is currently 77 cents on the dollar (woohoo!). You should exchange currency prior to or upon arrival, however most Canadian businesses accept all major credit cards and some will accept USD. If you have had a DUI or DWI in the past 10 years, you may not be able to enter Canada. Please be aware before making travel arrangements. http://www.canadaduientrylaw.com/
Yes! Banff is a very family-friendly place and there are many activities that your kiddos will love! Visit the "things to do" page for ideas.
Your presence is the best present you could give us, and we know that getting to Canada is quite a trek. If you wish to mark the occasion with a gift, please do not bring physical gifts to the wedding. Transporting them to and from Canada would be challenging for you and us both. Our mailing address is 205 Overlook Ridge, Carbondale, Colorado 81623. Thank you for understanding.
