Multnomah Falls is one of the most popular falls along the gorge. There are over 70 waterfalls on the Oregon side alone. Multnomah is just west of Portland, it may be an easy stop on your way to Hood River if you fly in to PDX. You can see the falls from the highway. It is very easy to walk right up to view the falls. No hiking necessary.
Wahlcella Falls is one of my favorite waterfalls in Oregon. The hike is mellow and dreamy. I always feel like I am in another world when I hike out to this fall. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a mellow hike through some old growth forrest. Trail is 2 miles out-and-back 220ft of elevation gain. 40 minute drive west of Hood River.
This hike is for the adventurous, and the "in hiking up and down very steep trails shape" individuals. The loop is 6.5 miles long, with an elevation gain of almost 3,000ft and the hike is rated as HARD. You hike up through the trees where the trail opens up to a wonderful view of the Colombia River Gorge. The views from even just 2 miles up the trail are worth it. The trail is well maintained but a very steep incline. coming down was challenging. Good luck!
This is another great brewery. It has a fantastic open area located upstairs with lots of seating and fire pits. It overlooks the river on one side and has a nice food menu. We had the salmon burger and went back for seconds :)
Absolutely excellent beer! Frei is one of the best breweries in Oregon, no doubt.
Don't go anywhere but here for sushi in Hood River. The restaurant is quite small and they don't take reservations. Show up early for dinner and hopefully the Uni won't be sold out yet. It is worth the wait. They can put your name on the list and text you when a table is ready. You can walk a couple of blocks over to Whiskey Tango for a drink and a game of ping pong to kill time.
Whiskey Tango is a nice spot to grab a cocktail and socialize. They have a room downstairs with a ping pong table, pool table, and shuffle board table.
Broder Ost is a Scandinavian breakfast & brunch spot located at the base of the Hood River Hotel, downtown. It has a lovely atmosphere, and a beautiful menu. Try one of the baked egg skillets or the danish pancakes!
Evoke Winery is a nice option for a wine tasting right in town. The space is very instagrammable.
Celilo is a great option for a less casual sit down meal. Celilo is catering our wedding, everything we have tried from them has been delicious so far. And the wine is excellent!
Samantha recommends this boutique for the ladies. It has so many cute accessories, jewelry, hair claws, shoes, etc. The clothing is also lovely and affordable.
