Ben and Rebecca met on the first day of band camp playing a beach ball ice breaker game. They were both freshmen clarinets in the Marching Royal Dukes. Ben was instantly drawn to Rebecca's mischievous smile; Rebecca to Ben's never-ending jokes. That same week, Ben's sister, Gracie, remembers Ben telling her, "I met the girl I'm going to marry." Ben and Rebecca would develop a surefire friendship over the next two years: darkening the doorsteps of various Mill Apartments; racing to devour Oreos during Dunk-Off and table cake during Cake-Off; offering support through clarinet studio auditions, juries, and concerts; making each other laugh through lost relationships, difficult classes, and the litany of self-doubt that can come with studying music. Two years later, in September of 2018, Ben shot his shot. And kept shooting his shot until the end of October, when Gracie kindly invited Rebecca to join the Dingus family for dinner at El Charro. And the rest was history. Since then, Ben and Rebecca have navigated national championships, senior recitals, graduating college, a global pandemic, five apartments, a couple career switches, a graduate degree, eighteen Billy Strings concerts, and buying a house. They have prioritized friendship the entire way. We can't wait to celebrate a decade of our friendship with you beside us.
