This is the number one question we get asked and our answer is always the same... why not?! We took our first international trip together to Portugal in 2021 and have the best memories there. We can't wait to make new memories with our closest family and friends in this beautiful country!
Hotel check in begins at 3 pm on Sunday, but the hotel will try to accommodate early check-ins based on availability. Checkout on Tuesday is at 11 am.
Renting a car is not necessary as there are Ubers available from Porto to our hotel. On the way back to Porto, our hotel can help arrange for a taxi. However, if you want to explore any of the towns around the hotel or the Douro Valley in general, we recommend renting a car. There is free parking at the hotel.
We are working hard to make the trip to Portugal worth it! The festivities officially begin on Sunday evening with our welcome party. After you check into the hotel, feel free to explore the grounds, get a drink and relax until the event. The hotel has an on-site restaurant, indoor and outdoor pool, and a full service spa. You can also take a walk through the vineyards or request a private tour. On Monday, the wedding will begin in the early afternoon. There is a small town near the venue named Amarante where you could walk around in the morning and grab a bite to eat (but note breakfast is included in the price of the hotel). On Tuesday morning, we can all reconvene and discuss the night over breakfast before check out.
Late October in Portugal is mild, with highs in the mid-60s, low 70s, and lows in the 50s. We plan for much of our wedding to be outside, so it's a good idea to bring layers.
