Depending on who you ask our story starts in the sands of Iraq or the streets of Brownsville. The initial shock of the contrast of these two places is pretty incredible and yet, this is our story. Becky and I met in Brownsville, Texas on the college spring break trip called Awaken. We have run around each other for a long time however, it was on this trip that Becky caught my eye. At the time I was committed to going overseas for work so, I didn't ask Becky out. A few months went by and Harvey hit. The storm had wrecked my funding and led me to a surrendered position with Jesus. Out of that place I felt redirected to stay. A month or so after that Becky and I were at a volunteer event and found ourselves flirting. Shortly after that I found myself in front of her car door asking her to coffee. She said yes! It was a joyful season to pursue Becky as my friend. In those conversations I saw her heart for people and Jesus. It stunned me and kept me asking questions. Two months went by and I asked Becky to be my girlfriend and she said yes again! It was a delight to call myself her man, it still is. As the summer drew to a close, I began to pray about proposing to Becky. After some time, I felt like Jesus gave me the green light to propose on the 18th of November. Four short months later I was on one knee looking the most beautiful woman in the eyes. In this moment I asked her to be my wife, to marry me. She said yes again!!! This moment was also preceded by a special phrase. Becky and I hadn't said I love you up to that point and I broke the ice with it. She said it back which melted the rest of the ice. Moments later Becky told me she had a dream about Jesus telling her I would propose on either the 17th, 18th, or 19th of November! Isn't that crazy?? Jesus is so kind and worth every sacrifice. We are both excited to get married and continue to build who we are on the rock of Christ. There is so much more to say but for now, Jesus is worth it all and He always will be.
