Nearly a year after first meeting at a Grinnell going away party, and intermittent spurts of snapchats and long nights of texting, Kevin finally mustered up the courage to ask Becca out for a drink. The two had already talked for months, but no amount of text messages could have prepared Kevin for Becca's propensity for being late. After 45 minutes of waiting and avoiding the glances of a skeptical bartender, Kevin breathed a sigh of relief when Becca walked through the Geranimo's doors. Through Kevin's eyes this was a classic entrance, the world started moving in slow motion as Kevin watched the most beautiful girl he had ever seen come and grab the seat next to him. The two connected with ease, and thus the greatest love story the world would ever see was born. Becca would never have any idea that Kevin spent hours rehearsing each of his jokes...and Kevin didn't have a clue that Becca's best friend Steph was sitting across the bar to make sure everything went smoothly! Even Kevin clumsily knocking his drink all over Becca's lap could not keep these two from having a good time. From the minute Becca walked through those doors, it was only a matter of time until Kevin would realize he had met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with.
Fast-forward four years, with weeks spent split between Ridgefield and Trumbull, the entrance of beloved Murphy dog into their lives, an apartment, grad school and new jobs at Greenwich Hospital and Darien's Middlesex Middle School, our two heroes were ready for the next step in the journey together. Kevin had planned this night for weeks, planting the seeds for a romantic sunset walk along the reef at Fairfield Beach and double..no, triple checking the tides for this fateful Friday night. As Kevin and Becca made the long walk from Veterans Park to the Beach, Kevin replayed the last four weeks in his mind. Tearful reveals of the ring to his parents, Cindy and Jim, nervously telling Becca's sisters and brothers. The most recent and important of all, when Kevin asked Becca's mother Terri for her daughter's hand in marriage. As they walked to the reef, Kevin was overcome with emotion thinking of uniting their two families. The biggest constant in their story was their mutual admiration and love for each other's family. Kevin's panic attack was interrupted (and perhaps enhanced) by Becca's request for a liqour store stop before they got to the beach. Finally at The Reef, Kevin moved Becca along the rocky landscape to a variety of different spots, looking desperately for the perfect plot of land to bend the knee and ask her the question he had been rehearsing for months. Becca noticed Kevin's nervous glances over his shoulder, but had no idea he was searching off in the distance for Sarah and Justin's champagne arrival. Finally, because his heart could only beat so fast, Kevin bent down and took Becca's hand in his. Neither of them could tell you now what words stumbled out of Kevin's mouth, but they both remember the look on each other's faces, and how full their hearts were. Walking into The Sinclair to see their friends and family remains the best moment of either of their lives. At least, until they finally say "I do."
