It was a bright and sunny September afternoon at Wheaton College (the Massachusetts one, not the conservative Christian college in Illinois. Although that would have made the story a lot more interesting) when we walked into our senior seminar for the first time. Our professor, who obviously saw the sparks between us, put us in the same discussion group. Funnily enough, no matter where we were sitting, we were paired together for literally every project… it turns out later that he knew what he was doing the whole time. Two months went by, while I (Rebecca) thought Hannah was just such an intelligent, kind person with thoughtful responses, beautiful hair and a great personality (Note from Hannah: I thought Rebecca was one of the smartest people I’d ever met, with sparkling brown eyes and a smile that gave me butterflies every time I saw it. You know, normal things to notice about a friend.) It was only thanks to the intervention of our friends that we finally realized the truth: that we had genuine romantic feelings for each other. After many nights of watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine in Rebecca’s dorm, on a Friday in November, I (Rebecca) asked Hannah out on a date for the coming Sunday, dinner and a movie. I had decided that I was going to be respectful and wait until after our first date to ask her to be my girlfriend. Once Saturday rolled around, I couldn’t wait anymore and asked her, and she said yes! And the rest is history… Covid, long distance, grad school, new jobs, living our lives apart wishing we were closer together. Finally, in December of 2022, we moved in together to a nice apartment in Wallingford, and after a year of living together, I (Rebecca) proposed in Old Sturbridge Village (Note from Hannah: because, really, where else was it going to be??). And now we’re getting married! We’re so excited to start this new chapter of our lives together.
