theology class sophomore year gave us an excuse to text for one night and somehow we ended up talking about pretty little liars (the only TV series I have ever finished), a few weeks later we took an awkward photo together at homecoming. the following summer both members of the high school softball and baseball teams respectively gave us some common ground while devon's sister and my high school friend (thanks marissa and grace) somehow planted seeds in each of us. soon enough i was hanging out at the driscoll house, and eventually we were headed to junior homecoming together. another homecoming and two prom dances later, we graduated high school and moved to ames. we experienced iowa state together which was nothing short of calculus tutor sessions (you can guess who was tutor and who was tutee), late nights out with great friends, the best football tailgates, walks on our beautiful campus, and eventually degrees and graduation. devon got a full time job (his dream come true, no more school forever), but then was unvoluntarily brought along on the PA school rollar coaster. these past two years have definitely been the toughest, most stressful years of my (our) lives, and i genuniely could not have done it without devon's constant support, even from a distance most of the time (i wrote most of this while away on a rotation). eight years later, here we are and i could not be happier or more excited to marry a man with as much respect, faith, and values, well-balanced with sarcasm, as devon has.
it all probably started in theology class when becca needed help with her homework. she decided to ask the best student she knew for advice, and since they were busy, she asked me instead. from there, even though it might not show on our wedding night, we went to every school dance together. we then moved on to four years together at iowa state where we experienced football games, parties, and meeting an awesome friend group. post iowa state, becca decided on two years of physician assistant school while i started my job at marshalltown. it was a long two years of rarely seeing each other which in part led us to wanting to get married as soon as possible after her graduation. so here we are.
