Avid music fiends Dan and Rebecca met through one of their favorite bands (a little act from New Jersey called The Gaslight Anthem). Rebecca had been active in an online fan group for a long time, and had built a network of friends from it, consistently responding to posts in an attempt to make social connections. Dan joined the group around the time of the rumored Gaslight Anthem reunion tour in 2018 to be kept in the loop and noticed Rebecca's posts. They were both lucky enough to obtain the hottest ticket of that year, a super-intimate show at New York City's Bowery Ballroom where the band's best album, The '59 Sound, would be played in full. Before the band came out, Rebecca was hanging out near the stage and Dan came up and introduced himself. They found out they lived only a few miles from each other. The rest is history! She even forgave him for being a Phish enthusiast, since a canceled Phish festival in the summer of 2018 allowed them to have a memorable 72-hour-long 3rd date on the Asbury Park Boardwalk as The Gaslight Anthem played the Stone Pony, providing the soundtrack of their romance.
