We met through the Association of Catholic Tech Students. Connor thought I was cute, I though he was short. If you ask Connor, we started dating in the Spring of his Freshman year (my Junior year) of college at Louisiana Tech. We spent a few long nights getting to know each other and went on ONE date, but I decided it wasn’t going to work. So I dumped him, even though he bought me a lot of sushi. God knew what he was doing, we spent the next year learning to love ourselves and became close friends at the start of the next school year. Connor was considering becoming a Jesuit priest and during that time of inward reflection, we both realized our feelings toward each other. We came back together and decided to give our relationship a real try on January 1, 2016. The magic began then and the spark hasn’t stopped growing since, like the gas station scene from Zoolander.
Hi! Connor here. I had my fourth great-grandmother’s diamond ring. That thing was insanely gaudy though. So I had the diamond placed in a new setting. I had accomplished this last summer, but kept insisting to Rebecca that I would do it later. Trap set! I planned a weekend to travel with Rebecca to her mom’s house in Lake Charles. We were planning on celebrating Rebecca’s mom and brother’s birthday. We had invited some family and friends for the weekend. She had no idea because I had told her I didn’t want a lot of people at our proposal. I asked Mike to set up the telescope in the backyard. Lucky for us, it was super cloudy. Great! She still had no idea. I got down on one knee in front of some of her best friends and closest family members to ask Rebecca to be my wife. She romantically replied, “OMG, like right now?” We had been talking about getting married for awhile, but Rebecca didn’t expect the proposal to come for another few months. That is the first and last time that I successfully duped Rebecca.
