Dress Code & Other FAQs

Questions? We've got answers!
Question

Is there a dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Our dress code is Black Tie Preferred — which means we’d love to see you looking your best! Gents, we hope you will rock a tuxedo! Alternatively, we would suggest a navy or dark grey suit with a dark-colored tie. No khakis, jeans, or shorts. Ladies, please wear a fabulous long dress in any print or shade you love (except white, cream, ivory, beige, etc.). Colors are encouraged! Floor length gowns and maxi dresses are great — but remember to keep it formal. Please avoid casual options like sundresses and dresses above the knee. We suggest wearing shoes to walk in grass (block heels)!

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

Although we love your little ones, we have chosen to make our special day adults only with very few exceptions for young adults in our immediate family. We want all wedding guests, including parents, to enjoy a night of fun! We thank you for your understanding.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We would like to keep our day as intimate as possible. Therefore, we respectfully request our guests to please not bring a plus one, unless they are specifically named on the invitation. Thank you so much for understanding!

Question

Will there be parking and transportation?

Answer

For the convenience of our guests, transportation has been arranged for the wedding day. Shuttle bus service will be provided to and from the Graduate by Hilton Annapolis, the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, and the Crowne Plaza Annapolis to Whitehall Manor. Shuttles will depart from the hotels promptly at a time TBD on the wedding day and return guests to the hotels and the after party venue. There is a parking lot available at Whitehall Manor for any guests who wish to drive to the venue. If you choose to transport yourself, please account for additional travel time due to traffic on the ride over, which can be significant this time of year. For your return, please note that rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are often limited near the venue, especially in the evenings.

Question

Will the wedding be outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony is outdoors and the reception is tented. We suggest wearing shoes to walk in grass (block heels)!

Question

What day should I arrive?

Answer

Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, the choice is yours! We would love our guests to celebrate with us all weekend. Out of town guests, family, and close friends of the couple are invited to join us for welcome drinks and dessert on Friday, May 29 at the Hattar-Werner Residence. The dress code is semi-formal, meaning sundresses are encouraged and ties are optional. Please avoid jeans, shorts, and leggings — and remember to wear shoes to walk in grass! We would also ask that you uber/lyft to the house as parking is not available. Welcome Drinks & Dessert - Friday from 8:00 - 10:00 PM Hattar-Werner Residence 211 Wardour Drive, Annapolis, MD 21401

Question

Do I have to stay at the Graduate?

Answer

Although we encourage you to stay at the Graduate, if you live close enough to drive home or prefer one of the other hotels or an Airbnb, feel free!

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

This is completely up to you! It will be most useful to have a car for transport to and from the airport, but it is not necessary. Most of the main sights in Annapolis are within walking distance of each other—especially if you stay at the Graduate Hotel—or ubers/lyfts are readily available. If you think you will be very active with activities or have limited mobility, however, it could be worth considering!
