Rebecca transferred into Bryan's class at UNH their sophomore year, and after months of pining, he finally asked her out the following September outside Symphony Hall in Boston. After many rambling walks across the Durham woods without running out of things to talk about, they each realized they had found their partner for life.
Bryan: I had been practicing the song (and the rest of the recital, of course) for months. Had the ring picked out for weeks. Had the conversation with her parents days ago. She hadn't a clue it was coming, as I'd made sure my practice sessions were after she'd gone back to her place for the night. Only nine people knew going in - 4 parents, 2 performers, one coach, one friend, and me. I had never been so nervous in my life! Everything went exactly according to plan in the end, and I'm so glad I had our close friends and family there to watch it all! Rebecca: It was Bryan's graduate capstone recital. All my friends were very adamant I be there, which I found odd, as of course I would be there, I was performing in it. At the end of the recital, Bryan said "wait, I have one more song." I was confused, as there was nothing else on the program I had helped plan. With the help of some of our musician friends, he gave an amazing rendition of Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon," dropping to one knee at the last line. I was so very surprised, but overjoyed and immediately said yes while the room erupted in cheers.
