The wedding venue has a horse barn, fishing pond, trails and even caves to explore. Please note there are cliff ledges and multiple unexplored caves so this activity requires adult supervision.
This is the big draw for Mancos, worth it if you've never been! Guided tours must be booked in advance but there is plenty to see self guided.
Take forest road 561 up to Transfer and Jersey Jim Lookout and back down 556 towards Dolores (note, this takes a few hours) or take road 566 up to the 566.A spur and back for some amazing views. Those routes are fine with a sedan, other roads may require high clearance and 4WD so use your best judgment!
Highway 145 to Telluride is awash in color this time of year not long after reaching the confluence of the West Dolores River. Although it's a fair amount of wheel time a loop can be made by taking forest road 535 connecting Rico to Dunton.
World renowned mountain biking trail system 15 minutes from venue. Bikes can be rented at Kokopelli Bike and Board in Cortez.
Yet another great mountain biking option. More forest (ponderosa and scrub oak) than the desert terrain (juniper and pinion) of Phil's. Less technical than Phil's as well and great for the whole family.
It's a spot where 4 states meet. For a fee you can stand there and take your picture. Cool.
Durango's big draw is without a doubt the train to Silverton. Tickets should be booked in advance, it's advised if going all the way to Silverton to take the bus back. All aboard!
Telluride is about a 1 hour and 45 minute drive from Mancos. This time of year the drive alone will be worth it as the upper Dolores River has amazing foliage.
