Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Rebecca Kaminski and Javier Madan
Since so many of our guests are traveling to Chicago, you might as well make a tourist weekend out of it! If you have some time over the weekend, here are some places that the bride recommends visiting, as someone who's lived close to Chicago her whole life. At the bottom we've also included some spots you might like to visit in the time between the Mass and the reception in Geneva itself. These spots are labeled with GENEVA LOCATION, and are all within a reasonable walking distance from the reception.

Wrigley Field

1060 West Addison Street, Chicago, IL 60613

Home of the Chicago Cubs for over a century, this is a fun site to visit for baseball fans. Neither the bride or groom are sports fans, but Becca has visited this stadium to watch the Cubs win before. She recommends a visit for all the sports fans.

Shedd Aquarium

1200 South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605

Becca may be biased, but she claims this is the best aquarium in the United States. It has many beautiful exhibits with exotic fish and even a dolphin show if you time your visit well. It's a fun location for kids and adults! Very family friendly.

The Art Institute of Chicago

111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603

The Art Institute is a classic tourist site for a reason. Featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, it has many famous art pieces and is a must-see site for all art enthusiasts. Before you leave, make sure you get a picture with the lions out front!

Cloud Gate

201 East Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60602

A must-see on your list of tourist photo spots! Even for people who don't love taking photos, this 33ft high, 66ft long mirrored jelly bean is a fun spot for all.

Chicago River Boat Architecture Tours

465 North McClurg Court, Chicago, IL 60611

Becca has never actually been on one of these tours, but she's always wanted to. They're a nice way to explore the city from the view of the boat, and a good option for those who can't do a ton of walking.

Nutella Cafe Chicago

189 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601

Becca and Javi went to this new Nutella cafe (the first one in the country!) despite the fact that Becca is allergic to Nutella. Regardless, Javi loved his experience and recommends getting a personalized Nutella with your name on it!

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria

410 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611

Deep dish pizza is a Chicago favorite, and this is the spot to try it! For all foodies, this is a must.

Cocoon

212 South 3rd Street, Geneva, IL 60134

GENEVA LOCATION: One of Becca's favorite boutique/home decor stores, you can get pleasantly lost in this store if you enjoy shopping. This can be a time filler in between the ceremony and reception.

Harvey's Tales

216 James Street, Geneva, IL 60134

GENEVA LOCATION: A very cute small business bookstore that's fun to peruse if you like books (like Becca!). They also have a cute coffee shop attached if you need your caffeine fix.

The Little Traveler

404 South 3rd Street, Geneva, IL 60134

GENEVA LOCATION: This store you'll definitely get lost in, but it has many fun items to get excited about. Very quaint!

Graham's Fine Chocolates & Ice Cream

302 South 3rd Street, Geneva, IL 60134

GENEVA LOCATION: For all ice cream lovers, this would be a great place to bring kids and enjoy a sweet treat while you wait for the reception. They have very cute outdoor seating too. This is a Javi and Becca favorite!

Coffee, Cones, & Cabernet

33 South 3rd Street, Geneva, IL 60134

GENEVA LOCATION: Featuring a 23-foot chocolate tree in the center of the store which weighs over 1,000 pounds and is made of Belgian chocolate, this store is a fun place to visit. They have gelato, chocolate, and coffee. Becca grew up going here many times and highly recommends, if not just to see the chocolate tree.

Oak + Rose Tea Room

1 West State Street, Geneva, IL 60134

GENEVA LOCATION: Becca loves her tea, and couldn't resist this recommendation, which is only a couple feet away from the reception! It does require a reservation in advance, but could be a very fun way to spend a couple hours with a lovely tea service.
