We met in 2016 when were camp counselors at OSRUI and instantly bonded over our love for outdoor adventure, all things camp, and the way we both embrace life with optimism and joy. Rebecca was beginning college that fall, and we decided we'd part ways as friends. That lasted all of a few weeks! We were determined to make our relationship work despite the distance, and looked forward to being together at camp each summer.

Jacob surprised Rebecca with a trip to Devil’s Lake State Park in Wisconsin, where we had led many hiking and climbing trips when we were counselors. This has remained a special place where we return with friends each year. While on a hike, he proposed on a bluff overlooking the lake. We returned home that evening where the surprises continued with family and close friends (many from out of town) joining us for a weekend of celebrations.

Traveling adventures (in hotels or in tents) are a huge part of our identity as a couple. We love exploring new places together and fully experiencing all they have to offer. • Celebrating Shabbat with our friends! We make a mean chocolate chip challah (thank you Carol Rubin!). • We are foodies and love trying new restaurants! Some of our Chicago faves are Ciccio Mio, Raman San and Aba. • Enjoying Chicago! We love walking on the lake, attending musicals and festivals, cheering for the White Sox (Jacob!), and going to bars with our friends.
