Church Ceremony

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

St. John of the Woods Catholic Church
9903 24th Ave E, Tacoma, WA 98445

Attire is semi-formal: midi or full-length dresses, slacks or chinos and a button down, formal sweaters. Autumn jewel tones and muted colors or florals are preferred. (Think classic PNW autumn vibe!)

Note to Guests: This is the church ceremony prior to the wedding celebration. Even if you are not Catholic or Christian we invite you to attend and witness our vows! All are welcome here. Recommended Attire Notes: Attire should be comfortable. This will be your chosen outfit for the day, so it should be something you can walk and move around in. October in Washington is usually nice, but it may be a bit chilly for our Southern guests. A sweater, pashmina, or light jacket would be a safe choice, however a sports coat or blazer for the gentleman is completely optional. As for shoes, we recommend flats, low block heels, or boots, as the venue involves some walking and wandering outside! Our colors are olive and burnt orange, so avoiding those shades to preserve the bridal party would be appreciated. A mood board is posted under the "Gallery" tab. Thank you for respecting our wishes!

Journey to Venue

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Note to Guests: The venue is roughly 30-45 mins from the church. If you are having trouble planning transportation between the venues, please reach out so we may assist with arrangements. We appreciate your understanding.

Pre-Reception

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Attire is semi-formal: please see the "Attire Recommendation" under the Church Ceremony section for more information. Again, we cannot stress enough the reminder to wear comfortable shoes and bring a sweater or light coat to keep warm in the weather.

Note to Guests: This is more of an untraditional reception, be prepared to fully immerse yourself in the incredible nature of the Pacific Northwest! Northwest Trek is a local wildlife park and nature conservatory that showcases native, northwestern animals. Guests will be able to roam the park for an hour before being offered an optional private tram ride through the heart of the park to see animals freely roaming in their natural habitats. There are limited spaces available, and it is HIGHLY recommended in order to see some of our personal favorite NWTrek residents (Bison and Elk)! Otherwise, we encourage you to seek out the Foxes, Wolves, and Otters (our other favs!), or try out the walking trails (and spot some secrets on Fairy Loop)! Upon return of the tram, we will offer additional opportunities to take pictures with the bride & groom, and then proceed to cocktail hour and dinner together! More information regarding dinner is under the Reception Dinner section.

Reception Dinner

4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Note to Guests: Cocktail hour and the reception dinner will both take place in the Hellyer Center at NWTrek. This is a private, cabin-style oasis overlooking a lake. Look closely in the distance and you may catch a glimpse of some park residents wandering the surrounding woods! Cocktail hour will involve light bites and a variety of beverage selections. This is a time to get to know other guests in an intimate setting while mingling with the newlyweds before dinner. Weather depending, this could be outside on the deck or inside the cabin. Dinner will be buffet style, with options for everyone. If you have a dietary restriction, please let us know asap so we can connect with our caterer and accommodate accordingly! Following dinner we will have a nightcap with cake cutting, dessert offerings, and cozy autumn beverages for an easygoing end to the evening. There will be some musical offerings that could lead to light dancing, but not your standard wedding rager.

Venue Exit

8:00 pm - 8:30 pm

To preserve the quality of life for the residents at NWTrek, we will be concluding the formal reception at 8:15pm. Staff will escort guests to their cars/provided transportation. All guests will need to exit the venue no later than 8:45pm. Due to the early conclusion, we will be planning an afterparty near the venue, and coordinating with local hotels/airbnbs for lodging accommodations. More information to follow.

After Party

9:30 pm - 11:45 pm

An option for our guests to continue the celebration! More information to come.
