David & Alex get engaged at Preacher's Rock on October 5, 2025

Our Story

First comes Dancing, Then comes Forever

Alex and David met in 2018 through mutual friends. At first, David wasn’t exactly sold. Alex, however, was. She thought he was handsome from the start and decided she would win him over. With a little help from their friend Chase and a lot of weekends dancing in Atlanta, David eventually came around. After discovering that Alex could bachata, he was both surprised and impressed that a white girl could keep up. From then on, they spent their weekends dancing together. One night, David showed up with a dozen roses and invited Alex on a beach trip to Daytona. On June 16, 2018, one day after the birth of their nephew Carter, they officially became “us.” When they returned home to Oglethorpe, they had their very official first date: dinner and a movie. Since then, they have built a life together. They’ve traveled, explored, and embraced new experiences side by side. For their one-year anniversary, they visited the Georgia Aquarium. After three years together, they bought their first home. Six months later, they welcomed their first puppy, Hades. A year after that, puppy Gus joined the family. The proposal was perfectly them. In October 2025, David woke Alex before sunrise to hike Preacher’s Rock in South Carolina. David has always been the early riser; Alex, the night owl. She talked the entire way up the dark Appalachian trail while he focused on reaching the summit. They arrived early and waited in the cold, only to find the sunrise hidden behind heavy clouds. David grew anxious about the view. Alex was ready for breakfast. He looked at her and said, “You know what would make this better?” “Waffle House?” she replied. Laughing, he got down on one knee and said, “No. If you said yes.” On October 5, 2025, at Preacher’s Rock, she did. Together, they love hiking, camping, their dogs, music, a good pizza night, and laughing at the reels they send each other throughout the day. They dream of owning a few acres of land, raising two proud biracial children who cherish both sides of their heritage, maybe having a home in Mexico one day, and—if Alex has her way—adding a few more dogs to the mix. Why are they getting married? It’s about time. By the day they say “I do,” they will have been together for eight and a half years. They didn’t rush their love. They built it. And now they are ready to celebrate it with the people who have supported them along the way.
