Joseph (who we all know and love as Trey) and Kenya first crossed paths in 1997 at Jones Elementary School in Greensboro, NC. They were both enrolled in the Spanish-Immersion program which meant tiny Trey and Kenya were learning to read, write and speak fluent Spanish at 5 years old! Trey and Kenya both went on to continue their studies at Aycock Middle School where Trey first laid eyes on Kenya. It was love at first sight! There has been some contention about who laid eyes on whom first - we'll let you decide. Trey and Kenya went on to high school where their friendship blossomed. Although at different schools (Trey at Dudley High and Kenya at Grimsley High), they maintained a close friendship and often, ironically, gave each other relationship advice. LOL. In 2009 Trey began college at Winston-Salem State University (Sports Education) and in 2010 Kenya enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Communications/ International PR). Trey and Kenya continued their friendship throughout college (except that time when they got into a debate and didn't speak for months) and would often hang out while visiting home during school breaks. It wasn't until 2015 that Trey and Kenya decided to give the whole 'relationship' thing a try. Trey asked Kenya to be his 'girlfriend' on August 1st in Murfreesboro, NC (his mom's hometown) when they were visiting for his grandmothers 80th birthday party and annual Watermelon Festival (quite a weekend, lol) and Kenya agreed! Since then, Trey and Kenya have had the adventure of a lifetime, literally! From living in different cities to living in different countries, to now - the icing on the cake - getting ready to say "I do"! Trey and Kenya are so excited to start a beautiful, new chapter together (alongside their half dog- half human, Kobe), and can't wait to celebrate with you!
