We met on August 17, 2015. We were at the Muhammad Ali Center in downtown Louisville as part of Bellarmine University's freshman orientation. Robert was with a couple of his friends who pointed me out of the crowd and suggested he come talk to me, which he did. His group of friends then began dancing with my group of friends. Eventually, Robert and I ditched our friends and spent the remainder of the evening talking as if we were best friends. It was then that we knew something special was happening.
At Robert's grandparents' beautiful home in Georgetown, Indiana, while surrounded by our loved ones, Robert pulled me aside and dropped to one knee. He recited a beautiful proposal that he wrote himself. While writing the proposal speech, he was inspired by Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen's book, "It Takes Three To Marry." When he opened the ring box, I became distracted by the light inside of the box and said, "OMG IT LIGHTS UP!!!" before saying, "YES!" Robert then told me that he used the same ring that his late-father had used to propose to his mother 22 years earlier. Then came the waterworks! On the way home, he told me that my Maid of Honor, Kaylyn, and her Aunt worked on the ring at their jewelry business in downtown Chicago. The entire event was loaded with meaning, more than I could have ever asked for. We are so excited to share our wedding day with you! See you in the 'Ville!
