Travel Note
There are very few accommodations in Santa Paula but Ventura and Ojai are amazing options with tons to see and lots to do. I would recommend an AirB&B in either one of those towns there are many good hotels in these towns as well.

Ojai is a great small town. Ojai means the nest in the Chumash language. I like to think of Ojai as a small little town in the middle of great mountains, so I think the name is fitting. The town has an amazing charm with lots of shops to check out.

Ventura is a surfer's town. There is no doubt about this fact. If you stay in this laid back town you will be minutes from the beach and have endless access to surf shops.
