Some of our favorite spots in downtown Frederick: Breweries/distilleries: - Olde Mother Brewing (Favorite beer but a bit of a further walk from everything else) - Idiom, Attaboy and Steinhardt Breweries (All three of these places are right next to each other) - McClintock Distilling - Tenth Wards Distilling Restaurants: - White Rabbit Gastropub (Cozy upstairs bar) - Shuckin' Shack Oster Bar (Randi's favorite old stomping grounds) - Bushwallers (Fun Irish spot) - Brewers Ally (Rooftop bar) - Isabellas Tapas Bar (Good tapas) - Hootch and Banter (Fun 1920's vibe, a bit pricey though) - Firestones Tavern (Always a good time) - JoJos Restaurant and Tap House (Good food) - Sumittra Thai Cuisine (Great Thai) - Lazy Fish (Favorite sushi place in Frederick) Good Vegan and Vegetarian Options: - Orchard - Cafe Nola
Harpers Ferry is about 25-30 minutes away from our venue and hotels. Harpers Ferry is a beautiful historical town. You can walk around the town and learn about John Browns Raid, walk along the Potomac River, shop around town at some of the historic stores, and even hit the Harpers Ferry Brewery! There is also a BEAUTIFUL but moderate and a bit more challenging 4.5 mile Harpers Ferry hike called Maryland Heights. This hike will make your post hike beer at Harpers Ferry Brewery well deserved!
Only about 20 minutes away is the Appalachian Trail! The entrence is in Myersville, MD which also happened to be the town Randi grew up in! There are two hikes you can do: -The Annapolis Rocks trail, about a 5 mile moderate-challenging hike with a beautiful view at the top! - The Washington Monument Trail (Monument Knob), about a 6 mile moderate hike with a nice view and a cool stone lookout tower!
Just 45 minutes away from Frederick is Antietam’s National Battlefield. Visit and learn about the Civil War. Antietam has many walking and biking trails along with its own Antietam Creek Vineyard and REALLY good ice cream at Nutters Ice Cream shop
About 30-40 minutes away you can visit another Civil War battle ground at Gettysburg. Gettysburg will offer you a rich history of the battle while you walk or bike around the battlegrounds.
