We are excited to be welcoming guests from across Canada, Europe, the USA, and the Caribbean! For those who are flying in, you have two airport options: Pearson International Airport (YYZ) or Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ). YYZ is a major international hub, whereas YTZ is a significantly smaller airport. We have compiled a list of pros and cons for YTZ your consideration. Check out the YYZ section for its own pros and cons list. Pros: Smaller and Less Stressful: The smaller size of YTZ may mean quicker check-in processes and less stress for wedding attendees, allowing for a smoother arrival and departure experience. Cons: Limited International Flights: YTZ has fewer international flight options, so some guests may need to connect through other airports, potentially leading to longer travel times. Limited Terminal Amenities: The smaller size of the airport may mean fewer amenities compared to larger airports (especially lounges), which could impact the overall travel experience. Potential Longer Travel Time to Wedding Location: YTZ is about a 45 minute to 1 hour drive from the wedding location. However, you are driving through several cities, which poses a risk of highway traffic (unless you take the 407 ETR - a paid toll road).

We are excited to be welcoming guests from across Canada, Europe, the USA, and the Caribbean! For those flying in, Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) is an alternative option to Toronto-based airports. While BUF is located in the United States, it’s close to the Canadian border and offers unique advantages for travelers. We have compiled a list of pros and cons for BUF to help with your planning: Pros: Lower Costs: Flights to BUF are often less expensive than flights to Canadian airports, making it an appealing option for budget-conscious travelers. Efficient Size: BUF is a smaller airport, making it easy to navigate with shorter wait times for security, baggage claim, and other services. Cross-Border Shopping: Flying into BUF offers the opportunity to explore nearby cross-border shopping and dining before heading to Canada. Proximity to the Wedding Location: BUF is approximately a 2-hour drive to the wedding location in Vaughan, ON, depending on border crossing times. Cons: Border Crossing: Travellers flying into BUF will need to cross the Canada-US border by car, which can sometimes result in delays, especially during peak times. Car Rentals Required: Guests arriving at BUF will likely need to rent a car or arrange other transportation to reach the wedding location, as public transit options are limited. Currency Exchange: Travelers will need to handle currency exchange for Canadian dollars, particularly for smaller purchases or tips. Fewer Direct Flight Options: While BUF serves many major US cities, it may offer fewer international direct flights compared to Toronto’s airports, requiring additional layovers. This information will help you decide if BUF is the best option for your travel needs. Let us know if you have any questions or need further guidance!

Passport Requirements for Entry into Canada: Valid Passport: A valid passport is a mandatory requirement for entry into Canada. Whether travellling by land, air, or sea, a current passport is essential. Please ensure your passport is not expired. Minimum Passport Validity: To comply with Canadian regulations, your passport must remain valid for the entire duration of your stay. It is strongly recommended that your passport not expire within six months of your planned departure from Canada. Check Passport Expiry Date: Before departure, confirm the expiration date on your passport. If your passport is set to expire within six months of your intended departure, we strongly advise renewing it before your trip. This attention to passport details will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience as you celebrate this special occasion with us. Additional Travel Information: NEXUS Program: For travellers familiar with expedited border crossing programs, the NEXUS program allows pre-screened travellers expedited processing when entering the United States and Canada. NEXUS members can use: Dedicated processing lanes at designated northern border ports of entry. NEXUS kiosks when entering Canada by air. Global Entry kiosks when entering the United States via Canadian Preclearance airports. Expedited processing at marine reporting locations. Important Note: NEXUS and Global Entry are not the same program. If you are driving to Canada, please do not use NEXUS lanes. Instead, proceed through the regular customs line or use NEXUS lanes if you are a member.
Travel Note
Miles is the standard unit of measurement for distance in the USA, while kilometres is the standard unit used in Canada. One mile is longer than one kilometre (1 mile = 1.60km). If you plan on driving to Canada, be mindful of the change from miles to kilometres once you cross the border. We recommend changing your speedometer from Miles Per Hour (MPH) to Kilometres Per Hour (KPH), as well as any navigation apps/systems, prior to crossing the border to avoid complications.
Travel Note
If you’re planning to drive in Canada, please note that gas stations measure fuel in litres, not gallons. Be sure to plan accordingly when filling up your tank. For reference: 1 gallon = approximately 3.785 litres. Gas prices are often displayed per litre, so keep this in mind when budgeting for your trip.
Travel Note
Canada uses Celsius instead of Fahrenheit for temperature measurements. Be sure to check the weather in Celsius when planning your outfits and activities. For reference: 0°C = 32°F (freezing point) 20°C = 68°F (comfortable room temperature) 30°C = 86°F (a hot summer day) Additionally, if you're watching TV in Canada, measurements such as screen sizes or snowfall are often listed in centimeters instead of inches. To convert: 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters. This small detail will help you navigate your trip with ease!
Travel Note
The 407 ETR Tollway: The 407 ETR tollway in Ontario is a faster route, but note it comes with a toll fee (charged in CAD) that is sent to the registered license plate owner's address. To calculate what your toll fee may be, use the 407 ETR toll calculator: https://www.407etr.com/en/index.html Avoiding Unexpected Toll Fees To help you avoid any unexpected charges, we recommend toggling your navigation apps such as Google Maps or Waze to avoid tollways while traveling within the province of Ontario. These navigation apps provide alternative routes that not only save you money but also provide a scenic journey to our wedding celebration. We want you to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings without worrying about toll fees awaiting you at home. Your Convenience Matters: Your comfort and convenience matter to us, and we hope this note helps you plan your travel accordingly. If you have any questions or need assistance with alternative routes, feel free to reach out. Wishing You Safe Travels and Exciting Adventures! We can't wait to celebrate this special occasion with you. Safe travels, and we look forward to seeing you at the Marryshow & Wallace Wedding!
Travel Note
We recommend that you opt for Uber or Lyft instead of a Taxi. However, if you are more comfortable with a taxi, please be aware of the following. Only use licensed taxi companies. If someone is offering you a ride, do not accept it - no matter how enticing the rate is. All major cabs accept debit, credit, or cash. If you opt to pay by card, PLEASE DO NOT HAND YOUR CARD TO THE DRIVER. While a common practice in America, this is a breeding ground for fraud in Canada. If paying by card, ensure the driver hands you the terminal directly. Insert your card YOURSELF, and complete the transaction without driver intervention. Before leaving the taxi, be sure that you have all your belongings, ESPECIALLY your card(s).
Travel Note
Cash or Card: All of Canada uses the Canadian dollar (CAD), though certain retailers throughout the country may accept US dollars as a form of payment for goods. If you opt to carry cash, we highly recommend using the local currency to pay for goods and services. It’s important to note that retailers can set their own exchange rate between the Canadian and U.S. dollar, which could lead to an unfavorable price for U.S. patrons. If you’d like to check the current exchange rate, visit XE.com for the most up-to-date rates. Our Recommendation: We strongly suggest paying by credit card whenever possible. Not only is it the safest method of payment, but it also ensures you get a better exchange rate. Despite any foreign transaction fees (unless you have a card that waives these fees), you’ll generally pay far less for goods and services because the USD is significantly stronger than CAD.
