In lieu of traditional favors, guests will choose between three charities for the couple to donate to. Beth and Jeff each picked one of their favorite charities and chose the third together. For her charity Beth is selecting the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester, New York. For nearly 30 years the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester has provided an affordable "home away from home" for families with babies and children receiving medical care at our local children's hospital. This allows families to stay close to the hospital. They have a 24 bedroom house, a new house within the hospital and a dedicated waiting room at the local Children's hospital (an affiliate of Beth's employer). They provide meals and snacks, activities, places to relax, transportation to the hospital and comfortable lodging. Beth volunteered at the house in college and saw first hand the amazing work that is done there. She chose this charity for her youngest sister, and Maid of Honor, Erica. Erica spent her early years needing medical care and multiple hospitalizations back home in New Jersey. Beth loves the idea of supporting a local charity that helps other families like hers. The donation will be made in Erica's name. Jeff is choosing baseball player Curtis Granderson's Grand Kids Foundation. The foundation sets up little league teams, baseball camps and fitness opportunities for underprivileged youth. They also provide millions of meals to children and families in need every year. Their third charity they chose together. It will be Four Legged Friends Animal Adoptions. Four Legged Friends is a local independent animal rescue. They do not have a shelter and depend 100% on foster families and donations. Beth and Jeff have two cats; Maude and Gertrude. Gertrude came to them from Four Legged Friends as a foster at just 6 weeks old weighing only 2.87 pounds.
