November weather in Oaxaca fluctuates a lot throughout the day. During the daytime, temperatures reach a high of 28°C (82°F). However, as soon as the sun sets, it gets a bit colder and temperatures can reach a low of 10°C (50°F) once it is dark out. For this reason, we recommend bringing a variety of clothing in order to meet your needs.
For the rompehielos on Friday, the dress code is cocktail attire. The wedding is formal. A floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit and a suit and tie are appropriate. While we want this to be an excuse for everyone to dress to the nines, we do want everyone to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, let it all hang loose :) There is no dress code for the tornoboda. There is a pool on the property, so you are welcome to pack a swimsuit and take a dip!
Uber is NOT available here so please keep that in mind. The town is very walkable though, and taxis are easy to grab if needed. Make sure to bring pesos!
Most of Oaxaca City's sights and recommended hotels are within walking distance unless you want to visit someplace that is located outside downtown Oaxaca (i.e. Monte Albán, Hierve el Agua), in which case you would need transportation.
While some places may take cards, we HIGHLY recommend you order some pesos from your bank (usually free of charge) prior to your trip or at the airport ATM when you arrive. Give your bank a few days notice. The exchange rate changes daily. However, the peso usually hovers around 1/20 of a dollar. A quick rule of thumb to convert pesos to dollars is to move the decimal place to the left one position, then divide the remaining number in half. For example, 200 pesos is roughly 10 dollars. Due to COVID-19, airports and other establishments may be requiring vaccine cards and/or negative COVID tests. Please check with your airline for up-to-date COVID-19 travel protocols, and allow enough time to prepare for necessary travel requirements,
One of the most beautiful (and busiest!) times of the year in Oaxaca is during Día de los Muertos (Nov 1st & 2nd), which is just before our wedding date. Please make sure you book well in advance if you plan on arriving early for the celebration!
If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, please contact us to request a +1.
Although we love your little ones, this is an adult-only celebration.
