Things To Do

We're so excited to share our home town with you!

Hikes

- Battery Point, near the Fort at the end of Beach Rd. - Mt. Riley, near the Retreat Center, about 3 Mile Mud Bay Rd. Can also hike to Lilly Lake from this trail as well. Shorter hike and ends at a gorgeous lake. - Moose Meadows. A wonderful walk-in Chilkat State Park. - Mt. Ripinksi, if you’re up for a full day climb! There is a Haines for Hikers guide available at the Haines Visitor's Center near downtown.

Bikes

Rent a bike or book a bike trip at Sockeye Cycle at the Fort. Mike’s Bikes also has rentals and E-Bikes.

Alaska Nature Tours

Many tour options! Guided nature tours, wildlife viewing, hiking adventures, and shore excursions. Tours are fully narrated and led by some awesome people!

Takshanuk Mountain Trail

A guided ATV tour that leads up the mountain behind our house! The journey will take you through lush forests and scenic views of the Lynn Canal and Coastal mountain range. You’ll also be treated to fresh baked cookies straight out of the oven along with coffee, hot chocolate, tea and lemonade. At the top you'll experience a breathtaking alpine lake. At the end of your journey you get to enjoy a fantastic homemade meal at the Takshanuk lodge.

Haines Rafting Company

Hang with our friend Andy Hedden for a fun filled day on the water. You'll be picked up at your hotel or air bnb, and spend the day sightseeing and rafting glacially braided rivers. This is a full day adventure. Well worth the trip!

Rainbow Glacier Tours

Tours and side trips including kayaking, rafting, birding and walking tours. A fabulous way to get to know the flora, fauna, and history of our area. We highly recommend it! Owned by our friend Joe Ordonez.

With over 2,000 artifacts on display, and roughly 8,000 more in storage, the Hammer Museum presents the worlds largest hammer collection. Check it out!
