Train

Metro North

If you're traveling from NYC, you can take Metro North to Poughkeepsie for the ceremony and reception. There are two main stations to board the train in NYC: Grand Central and 125th Street (at Park Avenue). You can pick which station to board based on where in the city you're coming from. Just make sure you've looked up the train schedule based on the location where you're boarding. Not every train stops at 125th. You can then take an Uber to your destination, or there are always taxis waiting at the train station (sometimes a little bit up the hill from the main entrance to the Poughkeepsie train station). Be aware that the cabs waiting at the train station are usually cash only.

Train

Amtrak

If you're not traveling from NYC and want to take the train, you can take Amtrak to Poughkeepsie for the ceremony and reception. This is a more expensive option than Metro North. You can then take an Uber to your destination, or there are always taxis waiting at the train station (sometimes a little bit up the hill from the main entrance to the Poughkeepsie train station). Be aware that the cabs that are waiting at the train station are usually cash only.

Travel Note

Where to Stay

We've arranged our festivities so you can attend the wedding ceremony and reception as a day trip from NYC. If you live in NYC, no need to get a place to stay. If you're coming from farther, it might make most sense to stay in NYC. If you want to take a weekend away, we recommend staying in Beacon rather than Poughkeepsie. Beacon is a much cuter town. It's two train stops away from Poughkeepsie on Metro North, or an easy drive. Wherever you stay, we recommend checking out AirBnB to get the most bang for your buck. *Note to immediate family: We will be having a rehearsal on Friday night in Poughkeepsie. It won't be late, so you can travel back and forth to NYC, or choose to stay in Poughkeepsie on Friday night. You will receive an email will details :)

Travel Note

Taxis (Ride Share) in NYC

We use a lot of ride share taxis to get around in the city. They're faster and way comfier than public transportation. If you want to give it a try, download the Via app. If it's your first time using the app, you can get $10 off (and we get $10 to use too) by tapping on the drop-down menu in the upper left hand corner, going to the "Promo Codes" section and entering the code rakhel4z6.
