We think the most fun option would be to stay in NYC, and take a day trip up to Poughkeepsie for the ceremony and reception. We recommend using AirBnB to find an affordable place. If you prefer to stay over in the Hudson Valley the night before, we love the town Beacon (two Metro North stops from Poughkeepsie). We recommend using AirBnB there too. NOTE: Immediate family, we need you in Poughkeepsie on Friday evening!
If you have a car, just put the Mid Hudson Children's Museum into your GPS. There's parking at the Pavilion. If you don't have a car, you can take an Uber. Up to four people can split each Uber, so find each other after the ceremony and band together!
Kids are welcome! We would love to have your kids there for this special day with us. Just keep in mind that we won't have any babysitting service, so whether or not you bring your kids is entirely up to you and what kind of experience you want to have. Just remember to RSVP accurately for them! If you do decide to bring your kids, we ask that you take responsibility for helping them stay quiet during the 45-minute-ish ceremony, and/or step outside with them if they become loud enough that it's interfering with other people's ability to hear and participate. If you think this will be a challenge and/or you don't want to risk missing any of the ceremony, it might be better to have them stay home. You know your kids best and what will work for you and them.
We know that's out of the ordinary, so wanted to give you a heads up :)
Yes! We really did! We've been to Thailand twice, and both times we wished we could share the experience with the people closest to us. From January 11 -18th, we are having a post honeymoon friends and loved one’s gathering in Koh Phangan, Thailand, and then we would love to have you join us there. We're imagining an open schedule where everyone does what they're most into and we connect/overlap where it feels right. Some of the most fun things to do in Koh Phangan are: Riding scooters through the jungle, laying/playing on the beach, scuba diving, eating, checking out the night markets, watching the sun rise, watching the sun set, dancing on the beach, getting Thai massages, drinking fresh coconuts, even doing nothing at all… you get the idea... The best time to buy plane tickets is about six months out, so we will email with dates before then!
Attire: Wear something that feels special to you! You are welcome to wear Boho style. If you want a fun excuse to dress up, dress up! The day will have a boho-family theme, and.. you should feel free to rock that, or your own style. For inspiration, search “boho groomsmen” or “bohemian chic.” or “boho maxi dress” But don't feel like you have to wear anything you don't feel like yourself in!
