Yes, typical Indian weddings are 5-7 days of never-ending ceremonies/prayers and traditions. To avoid draining everyone, we are compressing all the traditions into the 2 days of fun, Yay!
Fortunately NO!
Ofcourse! Dinner with a focus on finger foods and a light main course would be served. It is going to be a spicy affair to complement the alcohol and we are stacking complementary pepcids and tums too!
The wedding ceremonies would start at ~8.30 Am with ceremonial prayers and continue through late afternoon
Yes, while the ceremonies start at 8.30 AM , the main tradition called “Jilakara-Bellam” is scheduled for 10.45 AM. This is considered the most vital of all the celebrations and apparently this is when the stars need to align to a happy marriage. In summary, 10.45 is when “Jilakara-Bellam” ceremony is scheduled for and all the other ceremonies are arranged around it.
Guests can start arriving from 9 AM - 9.15 AM to be part of all the lengthy ceremonies.
Fret not! On the wedding day, traditional south indian breakfasts or just Tiffins would also be served for the guests!
One would think so… did you know that on the day of the wedding, the Bride and the groom arent allowed to eat until the complete series of ceremonies are done ie early evening?
Both of us are big on outdoor experiences, so we plan to break our 'Honeymoon' into a few smaller Honeymoons stretching from hiking the Patagonia, Scuba diving in the Maldives, Scaling Mt.Rainier to exploring the Banff. so fun!
