Rahul and Alexandra met on the State Department Critical Language Scholarship in Jaipur, India. For those of you who know A, she loves languages. For those of you who know R, he loves samosas. It is here where our story begins. R managed to catch A's attention when he brought in dozens of samosas for the whole Hindi class, smiling as he absently handed her one. On another occasion, A accidentally dropped a surprisingly aggressive pocket knife from the folds of her duppatta, and R was secretly impressed, if not a little scared. Upon return to the US, A visited R for a stroll across the Naval Academy campus (leaving out the bit where Rahul's car got towed and they had to hop the fence of the impound lot to get A's passport out of the car), but they eventually parted ways thinking little of their surprising chemistry. They remained friendly acquaintances for many years connected only through the shallow tide pools of social media, until by chance they reconnected in NC just to share a couple samosas and reminisce in Hindi. As Mrs. Potts would say, there was something there that wasn't there before. They have since merged their family holidays, traveled far and wide, and moved across an ocean together. As many of you will know, they had an intimate, last-minute court marriage in 2022 and were very sad that all their parents, siblings, friends and family could not attend. So here we are, a year later, honoring both families with Greek and Indian traditions, and throwing a (hopefully) tastefully wild party for their friends. We are looking forward to celebrating with old and new friends.
