We want you to feel comfortable and show up authentically as you are! Express yourself! You do you, boo! Keeping that in mind, here are some words of inspiration and guidance: think fun, festive, colorful, and celebratory. Use our wedding as an excuse to play dress up and have fun with it. While the venue is indeed a laid back summer camp, that will not hold us back from going all out. Get fancy! * Pick a color OTHER THAN YELLOW because Rach will most likely be wearing a yellow dress for the ceremony ;) If you've ever dreamed of wearing white to someone else's wedding, now's your chance! * NO POINTY HEELS! You'll be walking around an uneven, large, grassy field. Stilettos are a no-no. But if you feel confident ~off-roading~ in block heels/wedges, go for it.
Pretty much all the same things go for Friday night. Festive, fun, celebratory, what makes you feel good, etc. etc. We're using both nights as an excuse to play dress up and we encourage you to do the same :)
LAYERS. It will probably get chilly at night. RAINCOAT. It's a rainforest. SWIMSUIT. There's a lake and you should swim in it. PACK TOWEL. If you are staying at NB, beach towels are not provided so we recommend bringing one. NO HEELS. The Nature Bridge campus is full of uneven ground and you'll be walking on grass. Bring comfy shoes. Feel free to wear your birks/crocs all weekend long, baby! Additional considerations: Headlamp if staying at NB. Bring a beach towel or a pack-towel if you can. NB does not have any. Hiking attire if you want to check out the trails in the area! For those of you who will be driving, if you have any inflatable tubes or paddle boards, bring 'em!
You all know that we LOVE dogs, but unfortunately, your canine companions are going to need to sit this one out. Nature Bridge is located on National Park property. This means that dogs are not allowed inside any of the buildings/cabins on the Nature Bridge campus. They are also not allowed on any of the trail systems around Nature Bridge and must always be on a leash and on paved areas. If, for any reason, you are unable to leave your dog at home, your other option is to book a dog-friendly room at Lake Crescent Lodge or at a hotel / Airbnb near Port Angeles, where your dog will be able to comfortably stay put while you attend festivities at Nature Bridge. If you choose this option, please remember that your dog will not be able to join you at Nature Bridge at any point during the weekend.
Space is limited so we have to prioritize our nearest and dearest! We are only able to accommodate those named on your invitations. If you forget who your invite was addressed to, or if you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Thanks for your support and understanding <3
When we found Nature Bridge, we were not at all in wedding-planning mode. In fact, we weren't entirely sure that we wanted to have a wedding at that point. The idea of gathering all of our beloved communities in one place was so exciting to us. But thinking about all the time, energy, and money that goes into planning a wedding, as well as some of the traditions and convention that surround weddings, well all of that was . . . a lot less exciting. We decided to go check Nature Bridge out when we were living in Tacoma in the summer of 2022. That visit sealed the deal. After touring the campus and chatting with a director, we both got teary-eyed standing on the dock and imagining how special it would be to bring our loved ones to this magical spot. It became so clear to us that if we were ever going to have a wedding, this is where it would be. Washington is where we met. It's where we fell in love. We were both independently drawn to the geography and natural landscape of the pacific northwest. This is where we grew and blossomed as individuals. It's where our love first took shape. And now, we want to celebrate our love where it began. Aside from how Nature Bridge connects to our story, we were also drawn to the ways in which it feels antithetical to the wedding industry at large. The proceeds from our wedding will go to Nature Bridge operations and support its mission to connect students to the "wonder and science of the natural world, igniting self-discovery and inspiring stewardship of our planet." During our first visit, we were essentially told that Nature Bridge does not give a shit about our wedding and the only reason they agree to host weddings is to subsidize their educational programs. To which we replied: sold! We know this is not the most convenient location in the world. But we hope you can understand why it is so important to us to do it here. And we hope that you are just as excited to see this corner of the country as we are to show it to you.
