Prussian princess, Carlotta, received the villa as a wedding gift from her mother in 1847. Today, Villa Carlotta is open to wander amongst the botanical gardens and visit the princess’s former home. Villa Carlotta is open every day and a 5 minute walk from both Tremezzo and Cadennabia
A quick ferry ride from Tremezzo, Bellagio is known as the pearl of the lake. It's the prettiest town on the lake, with lots of restaurants, shops and streets to explore. No matter which way you look, the views are superb and usually framed by gardens or carefully maintained buildings. Make sure to visit the beautiful gardens at Villa Melzi.
The City of Como (which gave its name to the lake) is easy to walk around, and its tourist attractions are within walking distance of the train station and ferry landing. Once in Como, you can take the funicular up to Brunate, stroll along the lakefront promenade, visit the beautiful gardens of Villa Olmo or see the Duomo of Como. From Brunate, there are also a few hiking trails. The Basilica di San Fedele is located in the city center and has a craft and antiques market on Saturdays - just make sure to leave plenty of time to get back for the wedding boats! You can easily reach Como from Tremezzo by Ferry.
