IN HIS WORDS. . . Around the first week of December, 2021 we were “introduced” to each other on Match.com. What attracted me, in addition to her photo, was Raejean‘s 1800 mile, 5 state solo road trip in her Tesla Model S. I thought “this could be an interesting woman…” Little did I know…. We quickly arranged a phone call one evening and one of us said “I can see Pinnacle Peak from my house” and the other said “so can I.” So in fact our homes were 15 minutes apart. Lucky! We decided on lunch December 9 at 4 Seasons near Pinnacle Peak where after three hours we began to realize that the real chemistry was about to begin. We soon headed off to see our families for Christmas – Raejean to San Diego and me to Collinsville. On the flight back to Hartford, I took flyer and sent Raejean an email from the plane asking If she would like to go out on New Years eve (that was real classy – email rather than a phone call - but my rationale was she was visiting her family and it would be better not to disturb her with a call. She accepted on the spot! Given the late arrangements there were no places to go for New Years eve dinner so we decided to cook in. Fish in parchment at Raejean’s home followed by a movie….. The next day we took a ride to Fountain Hills for lunch and Raejean mentioned that in a couple weeks she was going to Hawaii to visit her son and his children who lived on Kona. I said “… well we won’t be seeing each other for awhile and I’ll miss you… “to which Raejean responded (after perhaps a bit of thought) “ …why don’t you come too?” We joined up at Mauna Kea for the beginning of what turned out over the next 10 days to be our honeymoon before our wedding. Early on we started talking about how we were going to see each other after Hawaii and decided on the spot that we weren’t getting any younger so why not just move in together. And we have been ever since. IN HER WORDS . . . When I was a young girl, I asked my parents: “How do you decide who to marry?” “Look for things you have in common.” said Dad. Hmm… The first thing I noticed, which was rare in Arizona—we shared the same area code: 860 (Connecticut) We were both from the East Coast originally. As we went on our first hike together, I learned that We both liked hiking, skiing, boating and love the warmth and interesting terrain of the desert, and western skies. Our five children are our pride and joy. At this time in our lives, we especially love watching our 9 grandchildren develop and grow. Recently, we have turned our focus to learning about how to live a healthier, longer life-- "Healthspan", not just lifespan. Where to live? Jim and I have been on a journey of discovering where best to spend the next chapter of our lives together. After several “tries” of downtown city condos, my places, his places, we arrived at two entirely new places that resonant strongly with our souls--more rural, perfect for the pace of life we desire. We left, Maine, Arizona and California . . . for Utah. We live in Summer just outside Park City. In Winter, we are in Kayenta, Utah. Currently we rent a home, awaiting our new home to be built. Thank you for joining in the celebration of our love. It means so much to us that you will add your presence. Love, Raejean and Jim
