If you're wanting some scenic pictures for the gram, then head on up to Mahnt Worshington! Take a walk down Grandview Ave, ride the Duquesne Incline or Monongahela Incline, and get some grub on Shiloh Street. When you get to the overlook, try giving your girlfriend a puppy and a ring and see what happens! Also, be sure to check out The Summit bar where you can try wonderfully creative cocktails while playing board games (like we did on our first date ;)
If you're looking for a no frills local spot to get some breakfast, DeLuca's of the Strip District is the place to be. They have all the diner fare one could hope for. Don't let the line outside the establishment deter you. They have a quick turnover. Please note that they are cash only, so bring that paper! (There is a PNC ATM around the corner). Melanie suggests that no matter how full you are, do NOT skip out on their milkshakes.
Raeanne once had to eat an entire Primanti sandwich in under 2 minutes for a competition. Needless to say, she can no longer eat here but that doesn’t mean you can’t! Sandwiches come stacked with slaw and french fries (and if you're feeling a little crazy add an egg)..don't knock it till you try it! If you’re wanting to check out the original 1933 location, head over to the the Strip District.
If you're into live German music, dancing on tables, and taking your beer by the liter, then this is the place for you! Simply remember the phrase “Noch ein Bier, Bitte” and have yourself a jolly good time… Just promise to bring back a pretzel or 2 for Raeanne.
This place is the epitome of a neighborhood bar with a focus on good food and beer. The burgers topped with peanut butter (yes peanut butter) are always amazing AND they have an excellent selection of vegetarian and vegan options.
It’s a hard place to explain but basically an eclectic museum of happiness that will make you feel like a kid again. It is free to enter, but they accept donations. If you see Randy there, make sure you talk with him! He is an absolute gem and his story will tug at your heartstrings. It’s also a great place to go if you are say…needing to fill time and distract someone before proposing.
PNC Park is widely considered one of the best ballparks in America because of its location, views of the Pittsburgh skyline and Allegheny River, timeless design, and clear angles of the field from every seat. As for the Pirates: no comment.
