During their organic chemistry lab, Nikhil was deep in concentration forming an aromatic ring when he looked up to see Radhi walking toward him with her signature smile. She invited him to join her and a few friends for dinner at her apartment that evening, a night filled with laughter, warm conversation, and Radhi’s mom’s famous chole and paratha. Neither of them could have guessed that this casual dinner would become one of their favorite college memories. As time went on, their friendship blossomed effortlessly. They spent countless hours studying together in the library, taking long walks around campus, and grabbing late-night ice cream with mutual friends. What began as friendly moments between neighbors soon grew into a bond built on companionship, humor, and comfort. A year later, the pandemic turned life upside down. Yet, even from miles apart, they found themselves growing closer than ever. Long FaceTime calls became a nightly ritual, filled with laughter, reflection, and the kind of connection that makes time stand still. Journaling, something Radhi had always loved, soon became a shared practice that deepened their emotional bond and strengthened the foundation of their relationship. When Nikhil moved away for medical school and Radhi began her master’s in Dallas, they both realized they wanted something more than friendship.
