Tai and Rachelle's favorite date night restaurant! Chef Craig Takehara, nominated for a James Beard Award in 2023, brings heart and soul to the Japanese restaurant options in the Sacramento area. We recommend using the Resy app to reserve your spot for it can get very busy! Rachelle's Favorites: Krispy Rice, Mochi Bacon (get two, trust me!), or Binchoyaki's Potato Salad Tai's Favorites: Beeru Ebi Tacos, Sashimi, Beginners Set (under Sumiyaki)
Pho City too busy? Head down the street to TK Noodle. Another South Sacramento staple, TK Noodle is a great alternative to pho for its after partying, hang over curing properties. Just don't forget to ask for the house made pork rinds! Rachelle's Favorite: - #3 Hu Tieu (combination with wontons) and pork rinds on the side Tai's Favorite: - #2 Hu Tieu Sate ( warning - peanuts)
Rachelle's FAVORITE Coffee Spot! The best coffee in Elk Grove hands down! 18 Grams coffee is my all time favorite coffee spot and it now has two other locations (one in Arden and one newly opened in midtown), but this location is the original. 18 Grams is what literally got me through my undergrad years! Rachelle's Recommendations: - If you feel like you need a pick me up get either the Sea Salt Cream Iced Coffee OR the Ube (Purple Yam) Iced Latte - If you're a coffee addict like I am, my go-to is the 18 to the Brain (quad shot) or 1987 if you got adequate sleep - Any pastry is great too! They have ube and pandan crinkle cookies, mochi muffins, and a Longonisa Burrito.. it is AMAZING!
Not a lot of description needed, but another hole in the wall spot in Elk Grove that is near and dear to my heart. Newly, revamped Osaka Sushi has been a staple for many in the community since 1999. Myself (Rachelle), my brother, his girlfriend, and many more friends have all worked here, myself from 2008 - 2021. As a former employee, just trust me this is what you want to get from Osaka: - Sesame Chicken Dinner Entree (ask for sauce on the side, a side of house dressing, and then mix them together SO GOOD) - Beef Sukiyaki (you'll have food for days) - Fried Ika ( they make house made gyoza sauce with just the right amount of tang) - Y2K is a community favorite Tai's Favorite: Chicken Karaage (sauce on side)
Looking for KBBQ in the area, here's your next go-to! Great food, great alcohol, great people, we love everything about Ember. Ember gives you an authentic korean bbq experience that just keeps on giving. What our typical first round order looks like: - Appetizers: garlic parmesan french fries, yangnyum popcorn chicken (sauce on the side), corn cheese - Meats: Beef Belly, Marinated Rib Fingers, Brisket - Condiments: salt, sesame oil, house meat sauce, spicy sambal sauce, garlic, jalapeno, rice paper, lettuce wrap, and you MUST get the scallion salad - Drinks: Try out any of the available KTOWN Soju or Saero Zero Sugar (it goes down like water)
With a plethora of Southeast Asian delights, S.E.A Hut has so many things to choose from. When I'm craving Thai or Laos food, S.E.A Hut hits the spot every time. They also have a great happy hour menu! Rachelle's Favorites: - Loaded SEA Fries (if you can add crab ADD IT!) - Beef Skewers - Laab Pop - Kapoon - Nam Khao
Need a quick bite? Huong Lan Sandwiches will hit the spot! Personal friends of ours, we love the nostalgia that these sandwiches gives us! Tai's favorite: Banh mi thit nuong (grilled pork) Rachelle's favorite: Special Combo (cold cuts, liver pate)
When it's chilly outside, I love to get some good pipin' hot Seolleongtang 설렁탕 from Seoulzip. A hole in the wall gem in the Rancho Cordova area, Seoulzip serves huge portions of traditional Korean dishes that just make you feel like home. Our typical shared dinner here consists of: - Yang Yum Fried Chicken Wings 양념치킨 (trust they are soooooo good) with the sauce on the side OR get the plain fried chicken wings with the Tteok-bokki 떡볶이(dip the chicken in that sauce, don't forget the hard boiled egg!) - Seolleongtang 설렁탕 (Ox Bone Soup) with lots of green onions and salt/pepper to taste - Haemul-pajeon 해물파전 (Seafood Pancake)
Hands down, the best fish tacos in town! Just a few minutes away from the wedding venue, Taco Fresco just has the the right amount of spice and crunch that has been serving the south sac community for many years. Not feeling tacos? They still got you! They also have burgers and fries that will want you to come back for more. Our forever favorites: - The fish tacos (just trust me) - Carne Asada Fries (ask for extra orange sauce) - Cantaloupe Agua Fresca (more sweet than usual) or Horchata
Another Sacramento gem, Queen Sheba Ethiopian food has tastes, huge portions, and loads of flavor for you to enjoy. Love all of the spices and the options that come with every meal! Our Recommendations: - Any samosas - Combo for 2 (Spicy) or if you're really hungry go for combo for 4 and don't forget the Injera! - Tej (honey wine) will definitely help you feel all kinds of ways too
One of the newest coffee spots in Sac and it leaves an impression! Qisa Coffee highlights Peshawari traditions through serving Yemeni and Turkish coffee blends to the Curtis Park community. This coffee packs a punch and gives you so much energy, and being someone that is almost never affected by caffeine that says A LOT! Rachelle's Recommendation: - Iced Pistachio Latte or the Iced Qisa Latte - Homemade Baklava ** They also have the viral Dubai chocolates in limited stock!
