We don’t believe in chance, but rather in the beauty of God’s perfect will. Everything we have experienced to bring us together, we believe has been designed by the perfect hand of God, and we are increasingly thankful He has brought us to one another. In freshman year at Christopher Newport Univeristy, Wesley and I both lived in the same residence hall. We were approximately three floors apart and didnt have much of a chance in encountering one another, until one day during Welcome Week he just decided it was time to meet new people. Tagging alongside his good friend, Wesley rode in the elevator to the top floor - my floor - and had a game plan: walk into the first room he saw. At the last second however, his friend ditched him, leaving Wesley standing alone on a floor he didnt live on. Not allowing this to faze him, he strode into the first open door, flashed a smile, and said, “Hey, my name is Wesley. What’s your name?” We clicked almost instantly as friends and I knew I had to get to know him. We spent almost every afternoon together following that initial meeting, and approximately one week later, he asked me out on our very first date. We didn’t become an official couple until 10/07/2014, but referred to our dating anniversary as 08/29/2014 given the intent behind our pursuit of the other. A short two and a half months later, I professed that I loved him, and he said the same to me. It wasn’t much longer until I knew deep in my heart that he is the one, and my soul smiled at the thought of the wait being over. - R
